Documentary ~ Rose Park Photographic Project

"living with the past in the present"

4th street

The Rose Park photographic project is a long term project to document the domestic architecture of Rose Park, a historic neighborhood located in Long Beach, California. The district gains its name from the small circular park on Orizaba Avenue at 8th Street, donated to the city in 1910 by the Alamitos Land Company.

The district contains beautiful craftsmand and bungalow homes on tree lined streets reflecting the architure of early Long Beach, from the turn of the century to the 1920s. Over 5,000 people reside here, and over the past few years the neighborhood has witnessed a resurgence in restoration and civic pride motivated by the efforts of the Rose Park Neighborhood Association.
